Governments & Non-Governmental

Applying state-of-the-science.

We aid the federal government, as well as local and state civic and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in employing state-of-the-art scientific and technical approaches.

Live & Learn assists Behavioral Health Concepts, Inc. with its services as a federally certified External Quality Review Organization (EQRO). Under contract with the California Department of Health Services, these services include providing quality reviews of MediCal mental health managed care services in all 58 counties.

As a panelist for the technical assistance initiative Optimizing Data Collection by Peer-Operated Programs for Mental Health and Co-Occurring Conditions we provided input to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on unifying data and accountability metrics.

Grants from NIDILRR grants support Live & Learn staff to accomplish the objectives of the Self-Employment Starts with You project, the proof-of-concept prototype of Reclaiming Employment, and the Certified Peer Specialist Career Outcomes Study. Additionally, Live & Learn works with the Temple University Collaborative under their NIDILRR Rehabilitation Research and Training Center.

Live & Learn advised the National Center for Trauma-Informed Care (NCTIC) on evaluation of the impact of technical assistance on organizational practices related trauma informed approaches and service user involvement.

Live & Learn provides expertise in peer support program design and evaluation to Trinity County, California, which recently received funds for a peer respite home through the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA) and the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).

Live & Learn created an evaluation plan for the Alameda County Peer Respite for Alameda County Consumer Empowerment.

On all projects, we partner with community-based organizations, governments, and researchers to maximize what we can learn from each other. Most of our collaborations are based on long-term, reciprocal relationships with our partners, with whom power and influence is shared.
