Carina Smith is a Research Assistant with Live & Learn Inc. and a recent graduate with a background in Political Economy. Through her experience in academia she was expected to understand various research methods and to analyze large sets of data. She was also expected to write research papers analyzing the effects of various social factors on development, particularly education and health care. After graduating in 2016 and becoming a Research Assistant with Dr. Laysha Ostrow at Live & Learn, Inc., she has gained practical experience working with quantitative as well as qualitative data and in several aspects of research including; survey development, data collection and analysis, writing public reports and peer-reviewed journal articles, conducting literature reviews, grant writing, etc. During her time as a Research Assistant, she has continued to foster an interest in improving accessibility to health care and services.
